Costume Concept Artist Oksana Talks Suicide Squad

Oksana Nedavniaya, Suicide Squad's costume concept artist, reveals she worked closely with Kate Hawley (the Squad's costume designer) to achieve the right "atmosphere" for the Suicide Squad movie:

For “Suicide Squad,” Nedavniaya discovered Hawley had gone through a great deal of research in preparing for the look of the costumes involved. Hawley had put together a number of mood and atmosphere boards that included beautiful drawings she created herself to communicate ideas and concepts.

“During the first stage for this film there was no cast set, but a general direction for the characters,” said Nedavniaya. “Kate is very much about creating a general mood or direction (with some of the costumes). We were very focused on creating an atmosphere.”

Q. How has it been working on “Suicide Squad”?

A. This is my first big superhero movie. I signed on for three, so it needed to be a great experience. This was a role that was just there to be fun. It was a chance to work with Will Smith, you know?

INTERVIEW: Viola Davis Talks About Suicide Squad

Viola was recently interviewed by Deadline regarding How To Get Away With Murder. She was then asked about Suicide Squad, to which she responded:

I have one more day, which I’m flying out for this weekend. I’ve been working on the film since April 1st. It sounds like a lot, but I haven’t been working every day. I haven’t done a lot of comic book movies, actually I’ve done none! DC Comics have a tendency to have darker characters. You know, Batman is a darker character, Harley Quinn, the Joker, and what David Ayer has managed to do is humanize them. I think that you see it in the trailer too–just something different about it that makes you lean in. What he’s explored is the pathology behind all of these characters, so you just get that extra spin that gives you the flavor and a look which is very different. And at the same time you get all the stuff that you’ve gotten before, which is the action, the special effects, the great makeup. I’m blown away by the movie. Once I saw the trailer, I was like, “Oh, my God. He really is a magician.” I mean, I had no idea. So, it’s been a real pleasure working on it with David Ayer.

Jared Done Filming Suicide Squad, Starts Camp Mars

Jared finished filming earlier this week and returned to California to start Camp Mars' first weekend.
In an attempt to remove the green hair, Jared used some vegan "stuff" which only lightened the green for Camp Mars' first day.
